“As far as the money being his, I don’t believe he earned one penny of it”
“As far as the money being his, I don’t believe he earned one penny of it”
Well they defrauded the contributors to their Go Fund Me campaign and they haven’t paid taxes on $400,000 so yeah I imagine they’re in serious legal trouble.
The second is the IRS. Since this couple claimed that the money was originally intended as a gift to Bobbitt, they (most likely) cannot claim it as a non-taxable ‘gift’ to themselves
“This homeless guy asked me for money the other day. I was about to give it to him and then I thought he was going to use it on drugs or alcohol. And then I thought, that’s what I’m going to use it on. Why am I judging this poor bastard?”
Probably not all along, but you know how people are: they have a predetermined value set for other people's lives based on circumstance. Once the GFM donations exceeded that $10k goal, the idea that they were more deserving of a shopping spree than some 'drug addled homeless dude' likely became too intoxicating to…
I donated money and if he wants to get high off that money, I am okay with that! I hope he gives up using drugs and gets treatment, but the money is his to use as he wants. I didn't give the money so the loser couple could gamble, go on vacation, buy a car etc...... I hope the couple goes to jail for this!
And if he had gotten the $400,000 and dumped them in safe investments at 4% returns in some state with no tax on stock income, he could have gotten $16k a year in free play money for life.
McClure and D’Amico are in a world of hurt.
Why did GoFundMe even give this couple the money rather than Bobbitt in the first place? Seems that if they are facilitating raising money for the benefit of a person or cause then they would have a fiduciary duty to make sure they received the funds. Had Bobbitt given them a PoA to have access to the cash?
Those same fucking idiots were told in the same article that the douchebag boyfriend would rather burn the money in front of the homeless guy because he might use it on drugs and I quote “Giving money to a drug addict is like giving them a loaded gun” while also himself being a gambling addict.
Garbage people like those two cons and some morons in this article will double down on that.
I don’t even have kids and I do this many Friday nights and it’s wonderful. i feel like it helps me enjoy the fun things I have planned for Saturday and Sunday more because I’m rested and ready to go out.
And you clicked and commented so...
The Brookings Institute, left leaning research group, did a study
When I respect what the government will do with my tax money... For now I donate. Plus I am small potatoes compared to who we are really talking about, I don’t think middle class taxes should go up. No reason to raise taxes on those who gross less than $250k a year as an individual.
Also add in crushing boredom for long stretches of time, punctuated suddenly and unexpectedly by short bursts of mortal peril.
And here I was thinking the military method of falling asleep anywhere was wake up before dawn, run until your CO pukes, and get back to your bunk 3 hours before dawn.
I served prior to 9/11- no one went out of their way to thank me then and it didn’t bother me at all. I actually try not to bring it up now in passing conversation because it drives me insane when some random says “thank you for your service” in an almost automatic-repetitive manner.
manufactured patriotism. which is unfortunate because the more commonplace it becomes, the less meaning it will truly have. pretty soon the anthem will be playing when the WALK sign comes up at a crosswalk.
