I will give McCain a little credit. I think he deserves it. But he has only been slightly less cowardly than the rest.

So true. There is an irony in the fact that when Trump shouts “LIES!” the other person is usually telling the truth about his lies.

She is pretty terrible. It’s bad enough that she lies constantly, but when she attacked the media for “unfair personal attacks” because they correctly pointed out that she is a liar, I got to a point where there was no chance I could ever respect her. She acted so hurt when she did it, too. Like the media was beating

Agreed. This is the kind of thing we on the left need to avoid. If someone has done something good, let them have it. Don’t find a reason to attack them for it. It leaves them with the impression that nothing is every good enough.

I’m trying to follow your logic here. We should keep them in second class status because it would make our budget worse to admit them? Can we also kick out some states for that? Because I live in Minnesota, and only Delaware gives more money, compared to what they take from the federal government. If this is becoming

I don’t know where you are getting your “facts” but 3/4 of Americans pay more in payroll taxes than in income tax. Puerto Rico has to pay those.

I did look it up, though I read it wrong. The thing says that they pay most federal taxes, with the main exception being income tax. But they do pay billions in federal taxes.

Well, that’s just wrong. They are not a state and are not subject to all US taxes, but they do pay some of them, including income tax. In fact, they actually pay almost as much to the federal government as some states.

And still Trump says we can’t help them forever. I’ll say it again: He doesn’t see them as Americans. He realizes that it’s his obligation to help Florida and Texas, because he knows they are Americans, but the thinks Puerto Rico is not really American. Because of this, he thinks anything he gives them is a gift, and

I’ve heard people respect the FEMA director, too, but it seems like FEMA is shitting the bed pretty bad right now.

He is. I think Trump still doesn’t truly believe Puerto Ricans are American. He acted like this was all a gift to them, as opposed to Texas and Florida, which were obligations because they are “real Americans.”

Can I also point out, he just said that a senator should resign for criticizing the president. These far right nuts love to pretend they are the real guardians of the Constitution, but it seems like they don’t understand basics like the separation of powers or the first amendment.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told, even by my fellow liberals, that this is the one area the Trump administration won’t screw up. They’ve got good folks in this area. They learned from Katrina.

I’m all for replacing him with anyone or anything. I don’t mean to trash the guy. He seems like a nice person. However, he is not well suited to that job. He can do some parts of it, but he is a terrible interviewer.

He threw paper towels at them! What more do you want?

That’s a fair point (the first part). But still, that’s a less valuable demographic and she is hated by the current, more valuable demographic. Jack made a better call when he traded his cow for some magic beans.

Even if you believe that (and her insane amount of coverage on the New Black Panther Party would beg to differ), it’s still a completely different skill set than what she is doing now, and her show catered to a completely different demographic. Fox News has an audience that is largely made up of older white people.

She doesn’t anymore, because she pissed them off. But she did have them for a while, and her ratings were still good when she left, so she must have been holding onto a lot of them. But then she went to a place with a different audience where she would have to do something completely different. It wasn’t likely to

From her point of view, I totally get it. Getting away from Fox News was a smart idea, both because it is losing ratings and because of her pissing off Trump voters.

My point is that NBC had no reason to think she would be successful in a very different job with a very different audience.

In general, but that’s not the audience for this show. It’s mostly women, ages 25 to 54. A decent chunk of them are non-white. That’s not her audience. That demo hates her.
