That line made me unreasonably angry.

In much the same way, the writers at all of Gawker Media are hired as writers and journalists. How white, asian and male do you think the people operating behind Kinja are?

How so? The demographics for comp-sci is at 90% white and asian male. Who do you think does all the behind the scenes coding, trouble shooting, networking and security?

How much actual stuff does Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or Pinterest actually create? The vast majority is user submitted content and whatnot.

Walk into any Com-Sci class in any college or university. That is the group of people that the core staff is going to be hired from.

After the original plan and platform is fleshed out, then the creative design staff ideas are thought up. Most companies try to hire from within as a method to promote career advancement…
