Is it me, or does Anthony Hopkins look like Miracle Max? And is this A Beautiful Mind the Prequel? It has the same couple in the lead.

Frak or Fragg?!? Who cares? One of the more convincing swearwords/cusswords in SF is Red Dwarf's SMEG. It has an actual 'dirty' rootword, since it is derived from the word smegma. It has one sylable and it rolls of the tongue. So SMEG that!

I'm not a Trekkie, so the whole distinction between the series, the individual episodes, the philosophy, the characters, the actors, the special effects, the plot, the overall arcs, etc. is a bit muddled to me. I still think that this show gets too much love and way too much credit for what it is: just a good, solid,

Yes blasphemy. But sometimes you have to be blasphemous to help people to think through their wrongly held beliefs. For some Star Trek is a religion. Not a very healthy situation.

Yes it was an okay show with some brilliant episodes, but as a whole... No, to many mediocre episodes and thus highly overrated.

I totally agree. The atomic bomb, controlled nuclear fusion, the discovery ofthe doubble helix, the internet, all very nice, but the emancipation of women in the 20th century has been given an enormous boost by the freedom the Pill has given women.

Isn't there also the fact that both LOTR and Harry Potter had strong auteurs. J.K. Rowling had a strong influence on the whole adaptation proces, such as her demand that only British actors were to be cast in her movies. Similarly Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh had a clear vision they put on the screen and by filming

I suppose the politically correct answer on this site should be a science fiction title, but sorry. Though I love science fiction and fantasy to death, I cannot think of a movie in those genres I'd watch over and over again. I've watched the first Star Wars movie over 20 times but that was a phase in my youth. No, the

Oh, I agree. They are totally unfunny and they indeed do only reference other movies without turning these references into good jokes. But still, your an my sense of humour is not the base line for the definition of parody. The makers can honestly claim they're parodying other movies and that protects them from any

Sorry to disappoint you, but I think the right to parody and spoof is completely unaffected. That would be a major infringement of first ammendment rights.

Yes, absolutely true. Great movie, great fights.

And another suggestion for greatest drag out fight scenes, has anyone ever seen a Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill film. Most of those are just hour long fight scenes. The scene below is from My Name is Nobody, which only has Terence Hill in it, but it is a great scene nonetheless.

No one even mentions this fight from Enter the Dragon. Seriously people. Know your classics.

Routh is also doing a good stint on Nikita right now. Chuck, Nikita, not bad at all I would say. It is not cinema, but he's still working

Though the (non-juvenile) first science fiction novel I read was Heinlein's Job, it was probably Asimov's Foundation which opened my eyes to the possibilities of science fiction. I was 12 at the time. I had read Bert Benson's Euro 5 books before that, but they were really silly juvenile scifi books.

So lets see: older, anger, darker, more Pertwee. If we forget about the female part, then which actor has all these qualities, is a briliant actor, has lot's of television and film experience, and no serious commitments for the forseeable future? Why aren't the bookies mentioning Ian McShane? Yes, he's old. At

Though not Science Fiction by a long shot, I think L.A. Story by Steve Martin could be classified as a comedic fantasy with magical realistic elements, and should thus be considered to be taken up in this list for the brilliant (albeit short) performance by Patrick Stewart as Mr. Perdue, Maitre D' at L'Idiot.

These photo's remind me of Crusiefied by Army of Lovers.

I love the work of Paul Smith. Love Greg Capullo's work (especially Quasar) for the very same reasons. (Clear simple lines.) But I also think Michael Golden is one of the forgotten greats. Dark, brooding gothic style. Perfect for the Avengers Annual in which Rogue takes down the Avengers and steal Ms. Marvel's persona.

And what about Alpha Centauri in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? According to the entry in our own version of the Hitchhiker's Guide (wikipedia): "Apart from being the closest star system to Earth's, (4.1 light-years northwest of earth) Alpha Centauri is home to both a local planning department office of the
