High art isn’t about artistry but who you know and how you can convince them how much it’s worth. Your name attached to the piece is valued more than your art.

Portal wasn’t being developed before they were hired by Valve. They were hired by Valve after they saw their student project Narbacular Drop and wanted them to make a similar game for them. It’s not the same thing as hiring a dev or buying a studio in the middle of them developing a game and taking ownership of it.

Who says a gamer earned 1.4 million For a character? That 1.4 million was likely mostly from microtransactions, loot boxes, and cosmetics to the company that makes the game.

If these useless objects spark joy for the buyer, then it’s perfectly within the confines of her method. Her method isn’t about pairing down all your stuff until you’re only keeping things on a utilitarian basis.
