I’ve played STO since beta and have taken plenty of breaks (sometimes for years). But you know what brings me back again and again? The desire to command a frickin’ Starfleet ship!

T’Ana is Caitian? For some reason I thought she was Kzinti :D
-EDIT- still getting all their names wrong...
The nice thing about STO is that it isn’t going anywhere.
Both eyes intact, no facial scars, and no apostrophe in her name. Man, I don’t think my Klingon is very Klingony.
I loved Boimler’s rant about going off to study bugs on a far off planet and getting eaten and how whoever stumbles upon his distress call will “spend a bunch of time deciphering how thing’s went wrong based on his shaky final video log” (basically the plot of a Star Trek episode).
I’d wait for a few more episodes to come out, tbh. See what direction the show starts going in and see if it’s something that grabs you.
I’ve never been clear on how the transition between being an Academy cadet and your first job as a Starfleet officer works. Wasn’t Saavik still at the Academy in Wrath of Khan but she was a Lieutenant at the same time?
I’m not sure what the particular criticism here is — every one of those services is already a subscription. Offering bundles should make them individually cheaper if you already have more than one, no? If not, you just stay with the unbundled versions. Personally, of all of those services, I only have Apple TV+, so…
I’m having a lot of fun so far. You can tell there is a sincerity with the jokes and storytelling without being mean or overly snarky.
I’m just here to see if I should check out the second episode despite disliking the first.
I get the sense that newly-assigned ensigns are sort of in the same positions as unrated enlisted personnel in the USN—actively encouraged to strike for a particular specialty, even if it means shopping around.
Yeah, that’s true. GMing Star Trek Adventures has given me an unhealthy understanding of the demarcation lines between departments, so seeing him shift to medical knowing he’d only have had surface-level courses in the academy was pushing it (though maybe that’s just the Tom Paris Precedent).
It’s a bit goofy that Rutherford can just transfer divisions on a ship
The bridge officers all love touting what their divisions are about because they truly love them, but are actually happy to let Rutherford bounce between them because they want him to learn what best works for his nerdy passions.
I’m loving this show more than I ever expected to. They’re playing the Trek tropes for laughs without tearing it down.
I hope they include LEGO versions of the terrible 70s commercials as well.
Looking forward to the cooking segment.
But what’s the point of a SW Holiday Special without Bea Arthur singing to the drunks in the cantina?

... now, John... I know, I know, those guys are jerkwads and they screwed over Finn’s character. I know. But a day in the booth, a decent paycheque, and we all don’t have to hear some soundalike’s voice coming out of your character’s mouth. Everyone wins, okay?
