A transparent attempt to get players to shell out by making their previous playtime effectively worthless through powercreep would just change the origin point of the backlash, and it would remain as severe.

we’re still very much in the research phase of this new era of sex speedrunning
Yeah I’m definitely not going to try out this game, when that’s their idea of fair dealing.
100% players are only walking wallets to them.
Yeah everybody should abandon ship cause that tells you everything you need to know about how they plan to do things going forward.
Two heavy machine guns, two hearts, huge dude. Soooo Samoan Astartes with no power armor?
Yeah, as someone who doesn’t play Destiny the biggest obstacle is “it is impossible for me to experience the entire story from the beginning until the present” a thing that is not true of any other game I could be playing instead. To say nothing about literally any other piece of media.
As a longtime Destiny player, I have absolutely no reason why Bungie is continuing to try and considering they are so, so bad at it. Destiny has been their only revenue earner for 10 years now and every couple years it feels like they’re teetering on the brink just to barely pull back from the edge.
The game is narratively impenetrable for anyone who doesn’t play regularly. Last time i tried to get into it was Beyond Light (holy shit it’s been 3 years?) and i did a bunch of external research to get caught up on the story (watching hours of lore videos) and was enjoying myself until i hit the inevitable “now grind…
Absolute truth. I’m lucky enough (or unlucky enough?) to have a small group of friends who I’ve played Destiny with since the series launched. There was a natural ebb and flow to our involvement over the years as content came and went, but if we had more important things to tend to, jumping back in was made far easier…
I discovered that I love chef reaction videos. Watching chefs react to other people cooking and commenting on technique and ingredients is entertaining and enlightening. If only all reaction videos were “showing my expertise in a subject.”
Because the community was falling apart and they need to try to stop the doomerism and try to change the narrative from, “BUNGIE IS FALLING APART AND LAYING OFF DESTINY 2 DEVELOPERS AFTER A BAD EXPANSION AND MARATHON DEVELOPERS EVEN BEFORE IT LAUNCHES AND SOME YOUTUBER SAID TARKOV TESTERS HATED A SUPER EARLY…
Bungie’s biggest problem (aside from apparently not giving a shit about their employees) is that Destiny is almost impossible to jump into if you’re new or been away for a while.
That’s one of the reasons that reaction content is always getting scrutinized and it boils down to “react harder” which is a nonsense argument.
It says you’re a Xbox fanboy.
I hate to say yes, but... I generally agree with you. Reaction videos are some of the lowest creative bullcrap that exists, if even at ALL creative.
Hey dummy, you realize this was done internally at Bungie with no involvement from Sony
I fucking hate “reaction videos,” and have since their inception. Doing this for a war video adds a whole new layer of pathetic narcissism for clicks and attention.
I’m sorry, but why do studios feel the need to reach out to players after fucking over their employees?
Every time I hear about a Twitch streamer it’s because they’re a piece of shit. Stop giving them free publicity by writing about them.
