If my ability to suspend disbelief is broken in one area it is with cars. If I didn't know what I do I probably wouldn't find the FF series to be so appalling. I'm sure they are fine movies from the view of someone with limited knowledge.

I agree, but it is not really "generating" the energy, it is converting it. Therefore it is still all consumed energy from a physics standpoint.

There is not a benefit persay, it all comes down to the tune. If the car is venting to the atmosphere on a stock tune where the car is setup to recirculate then it will cause a rich condition because the the ECU is not seeing as much air as it is expecting since the vented air is "escaping" the system.
