The only Star Ocean game I ever got to try was Till The End of Time, and that was only for a couple of hours. From what I remember the writing was iffy and the battle system was a bit weird so I just never went back to it. Would it be worth going back and trying them?

Yeah, it’s not like this is a Dark Souls 2 or Aliens CM situation where they were like “hey look how good we made our game look! This is totally what it looks like on the system!” and then all of a sudden at launch you get something completely different.

The thing is, the 2013 announcement trailer LOOKS like a cinematic trailer made to announce a new game, where as the 2015 direct footage actually looks like an in engine scene from the actual Wii U game. Does it look worse than the announcement trailer? Definitely. Does it look terrible? No, especially for a Wii U

I don’t understand those people. I beat the game in about 70 hours or so and I’m fairly sure the only way I could have lengthened that would be to do all of the nowhere near essential side quests (which I DID do the majority of as they came along) that wouldn’t have really added much in the way of story. You CAN get

How I imagine this went down:

Oh man, that Transistor pic makes me feel things.

Witcher? I hardly know her!

It’s good that a reasonable compromise was reached, but I think it’s a bit of a shame that something that was so obviously just a joke that wasn’t meant to hurt anyone and was obviously NOT some kind of statement against transgenders got blown this far out of proportion.

I’m sure it’s definitely possible, and it will likely happen sooner than you think. These types of games are ripe for people who like to apply special challenges for themselves. I managed to beat NG++ only dying once, which obviously isn’t on the same level as beating the core experience at a lower level, but there

This game is excellent at making you ridiculously depressed about everything and everyone you meet, but it’s SO good. I just platinum’d the game about half an hour ago and I still kinda want to play it again.

Hawken was awesome! I haven’t played it in ages though.

It's less defensive, more fast paced and proactive. You have to get stuck in and dodge, no relying on blocking. There's also no magic playstyle or different weight classes. It keeps the soul (pun intended) of the Souls games while evolving it into something a bit different.

I think not calling it Souls was a smart move considering how different of an approach it takes. It has the same core ideas but expresses those ideas in new ways. The "Souls" name implies a certain playstyle, and this game seems to seek to break that playstyle.

Ah good call, you're absolutely right. I somehow overlooked those little descriptions on the right side of each weapon slot when you hover over them.

Yeah, I played Demon's Souls AFTER Dark Souls so take this with that knowledge but Maneater was the first time in the game I felt really challenged in a boss fight, though that's mostly because it's a tiny bridge and both of them can fly off of it to troll you. Still, they're certainly the most memorable fight for me

Your basic attack seems like it changes with what you're doing, for instance right after dodging your basic attack seems to change to one of your heavier weapons to get you extra damage for a counter attack to make up for your normal chain not finishing.

I'm not sure how far they are into the story of the game, but the last place he mentioned was Eryth Sea and I made it there less than 30 hours in, so it sounds like he's doing literally everything he possibly can which is a sure fire way to drag this game out endlessly. The vast majority of the sidequests that you get

The Xenoblade slide certainly looks more satisfying, but damn I'm super excited for both of these games. I'm currently replaying Xenoblade Chronicles to pass the time til Type-0 next week, then playing that to last me til Bloodborne. Should be a good month.

I think that's what he's saying. You can't play through both games on either handheld alone. 1 is on 3DS but not Vita, 2 is on Vita but not 3DS.

I think they intentionally haven't shown all of what they've upgraded (for instance I know they also changed back to their prelaunch idea of making some areas dark enough to make torches useful), but overall yeah I doubt it'll be a huge overhaul.
