No we cannot all agree on that. One - believe it or not there are people who like the prequels. They like even like Jar Jar Binks. I am unabashedly one of them. I’m not a prequel defender but I think one of the big problems with them was that they weren’t just a cash grab. Lucas put his all into them, he just failed. The new JJ Abrams SW movie is a cash grab, but it’s well executed & gives fans what they want.

I think i09 recently reported on a fan-edit of the prequels that does just that: replaces the dialogue for Jar Jar and the trade federation folks with subtitled alien language. It’s apparently a vast improvement.

The character itself was terrible, yes... but then everything they did with the character was also just so fuckin’ ridiculous.

but I think we can all admit that the prequels were garbage that were just trying to cash in on the Star Wars franchise and not honestly looking to movie the story either forward or fill in the past. It was a money grab pure and simple IMO

I have a podcast with a friend where we talk at length about what would have made Jar Jar work. When you think about the original trilogy the big thing that stands out is most of the alien races don’t speak English. Yet we get to the prequels where almost every planet suddenly is english-fluent.

Those movies really wrecked the careers of Best and Jake Lloyd. Hayden too, even though I’ve been told he’s a good actor I believe the prequels will follow him until he gets himself a massive hit.

OMG. And do it in the vein of “This is the End.” This may be the next killer crowdfunding project waiting to happen.

Probably just what Best said. Having a fully CGI character in a live action film was still a new thing in 1999, and they were probably too absorbed with that to notice that the character was actually terrrrrible.

I think this is a rare occasion where people don’t really blame the actor for the character being so shitty.

Well he is certainly pretty. If they made his character just a Naboo human that they met who helped them out and was less obnoxious comic relief he would probably be a super beloved character.

doubtful. More people and compaines are pegging hopes on this then they did on 3D. I expect this to last longer. Im personnally waiting on the HTC offering because I expect much more valve support.

Similar to a new console is ~$300, not $600, thats similar to two new consoles.

That’s a little steep. Especially considering the kind of rig you need to use it for gaming.

Even Sony said their headset would run a cost similar to a new console.
