I think that what I hate the most about these commercials is that they’re subtly taking the piss out of themselves. So subtly I’m not sure they even know it. The subtext of it is really self-deprecating.

Like you said though, deals with Dr. Pepper and Pinkberry which might as well be weight gain supplements. So isn’t it more likely they’re just trying to hit the full market spectrum? It’s not like they’re only advertising on weight loss supplements.

That this is not universally hated across the US makes me think our great country is on the downward slope as a society.
