He gave up his rights. This has nothing to do with Native American versus white. Also, the father is 1/8 Native American and does not live on a reservation or have strong ties to the community.

Here is the NPR story which is FAR LESS BIASED THAN THIS. I recommend anyone interested should read it. This is sad on BOTH SIDES. She lived with her adoptive parents for two years before taken away, they are now allowed no contact with her.

I think it's telling that the GAL, who is partially Native American herself, recommended that the child remain in the adoptive family's home.
