I have no idea how someone could do something like that!
I have no idea how someone could do something like that!
Must've been before my time. My first ever commercial flight (out of DTW no less), was in 1996.
Don't worry, I do the same thing.
I know they'd still use marshallers and wing walkers, but there would still be a delay between them seeing a hazard and the pilot reacting to their hand signals.
My concern with it would be with the "pushback" from the gate. The guys in the tug have much better control and situational awareness than the pilots can have due to the limited visibility from the cockpit.
Damnit! I thought my Celicas were considered "classics". I might have to rethink that now.
Sigh. That's my old A-10. I miss her sometimes.
You're right, CAS doesn't always have to be a down and dirty affair. But having the ability to take in the entire situation slowly allows for more accuracy and less risk of fratricide. On the "Save the A-10" Facebook page, a video was posted on April 2nd of a radio call supposedly between an "F-15 pilot and HQ".…
Yeah, considering the F-16 single ship demonstration teams were called Viper East & West, it's much more used than Falcon or Fighting Falcon.
There's something about Yolandi rapping with Thomas' theme going...
KOMO has this photo up of the helicopter involved on the helipad (undated photo)
Could be Kirtland too.
Meet one of the crazy bastards that flies on the right of the HH-60:
I always liked the Biggie one. NSFW due to some motherfuckers.
Heard the same thing.
Woman on KIRO Radio is stating it's a Bell 407 (seems weird as it's been reported above that it was a Eurocopter AS350).
KIRO 7 is grounding their helicopter.
From Q13 Fox Seattle's Live Blog:
Just heard on KIRO radio, NTSB hopes to have the helicopter wreckage removed by 1pm.
KIROTV is reporting that their chopper pilot (all of the Seattle choppers are hangered together according to them and all the pilots know each other) stated that it wasn't KOMO's normal helicopter and that it was previously used in another market.
