Yea it existed in 1984 but it was basically impossible, was just a quarter devouring monster, the vast majority of the gameplay was basically deciding how to move/dodge, sort of a “Quicktime sequence that never ends”. You’ll very rarely see it pop up in other weird obscure references from the 80s, like Robot Chicken:

Mad Dog McCree started out life as an arcade laserdisc-based game, too. In fact, laserdiscs actually predate CDs. Development on them began some time in the late 60s, and the first players hit the market about 10 years later. They may look like big DVDs, but the way they store video is a lot more like how VHS does:

Believe it or not, Dragon’s Lair was released in 1983. I know it sounds crazy nowadays, but it actually ran on an internal LaserDisc system, which is why the “graphics” looked so advanced. You were basically just watching a LaserDisc movie.

This is reason #1 (of many, many many reasons, but still...) as to why I despise BushII (George W.) Dumb fucker either A) Was too stupid to properly pronounce the word “Nuclear” despite having an Ivy League degree or B) was such a populist putz as to affect a texas accent and pretend he was dumber than he actually was

Fantasy Alien Nation

Man, I can’t wait for this Shadowrun movie!

Let me help you: this looks amazing.

I can’t decide whether this looks amazing or awful.

Yeah it’s more of a historical thing I guess.

Dwarf cleric is a totally classic combination. Has been since AD&D made dwarves a playable race (before that there was just a ‘dwarf’ class, basically a tanky fighter.)

Let me decide what is real

Those only count as the worst if you ignore the Bear River, Oak Run, and Wounded Knee massacres though...

Now bring on Blade.

Plus their motivations make for a natural conflict. Luke wants to keep Harlem safe and help kids abandon whatever gangs they are in, Punisher doesn’t believe criminals can be redeemed. That clash of ideologies could be good for a fair amount of drama and reflection on violence, crime and justice.

As a DM, I’d like to say that this is a monstrous thing to do to your players.

I don’t think this is whitewashing, but I disagree with you. If somebody thinks there’s a problem with some adaptation they shouldn’t just shut up and watch the original. If they want to voice their concerns, whatever, let em.

The Japanese Death Note is also streaming on Netflix. Here’s a thought, watch that instead.

Didn’t they relocate the story to be set in the US? If so, then it’s not whitewashed. It’s just a localized adaptation, like Edge of Tomorrow and House of Cards. That is perfectly acceptable. There’s no expectation to cast Asian American actors, though it would have been nice if they had. If they had kept it set in

You should definitely watch Better Off Ted.

I’m pretty sure Veridian Dynamics has this covered.
