For the amount of money they were charging for a Volt coupe really didn’t help matters. A more powerful Bolt powertrain with AWD or a range extender might work.

Or you could use hub motors at all four wheels like the Mars rovers and use a small displacement gas or diesel engine to generate electricity. Then you don’t have a driveshaft, and center-locking/rear differential to armor.

In all honesty, the niche vehicles are really the only thing that FCA had going for it. From the DaimlerChrysler-era on none of the companies that have seemed to have an interest in rebuilding the business.
