South Park is on of those rare TV shows that has gone on forever and but can still be remarkably good. It’s never a guarantee, they’ve definitely hit some long creative slumps, but then they’ll turn around and just shine. Season 19 (back in 2015) still amazes me when I rewatch it.

Ironically, they have probably less incentive than ever to fix the bizarre hoops you have to jump through to register a new account. They’ve had to implement all kinds of measures to lessen the impact of the enormous flood of new players, those hoops may now be critical to keep the servers from getting swamped.

While there’s probably some of the usual number inflation going on, believe me when I say the game is full of players right now to the point it damn near breaks it at times. They legit had to stop issuing new accounts for awhile a couple of months ago because of the massive new player influx. And all of this with

Goddammit, the bard’s going on about Odysseus AGAIN. throws rotten olives GET SOME ORIGINAL MATERIAL, HOMER!!

Hot damn, She-Ra’s in the mix! Aimee Carrero is fantastic, it’ll be great seeing her in live action.

This is amusing timing - there was a spike in chatter about Face/Off a couple of weeks ago after some 4chan poster stirred up QAnons with this:

There are all kinds of stories about immigrants learning English by watching lots of American sitcoms. Which would nicely dovetail into the premise of the show, wouldn’t it?

This was driving me crazy too until they mentioned that the “system” was based around a gas giant - implying that they’re talking about a system of moons that could be in the same solar system. Which actually makes Empire Strikes Back’s whole “we’ll fly from Hoth to Cloud City without any hyperdrive” thing finally

Because falling from orbit can only be done once in a show about space travel, right?

Exactly what I was hoping!

Their mea culpa episode about ManBearPig gave me hope that they’d maybe moved beyond their bothsiderism.

I wonder if the whole sitcom trope thing will be tied in with Wanda’s immigrant background - there are a number of immigrant stories about learning English by watching lots of American television.

MADNESS.

God, I even remember finding it weird just how much I hated it when I was a kid... while still watching it.

I’ve enjoyed the humor of the show for the most part, but mostly in a satisfied “heh” or “HAH!” kind of way.

If you want the Robert Stack style intro, be sure to watch the “Drunk Mystery” special of Drunk History*.

I think other comments are right about it being a big step above other videos in terms of blatant brutality and sadism.
