There’s always someone out there who’ll do anything for a paycheck. This is a behavior to oppose.

Deadspin did great work, and their voices were important in what they did.

Some of this I agree about, but Spanfeller/Maidment clearly do care very much about the rebellion continuing to play out in the comments, since they've decided the most efficient way to preserve their thin skins is by nuking comments.

Yeah man, I hear that. For people whose money insulates them from the effects of their own failures, the only thing that can hurt them is mockery. I hope we can deliver trucks-full of that via all available channels.

Would Arnie do us a solid and buy the GMG sites?

Hey Torch, man, thanks for a bunch of good times here. I’m sorry the site is exploding due to weaponized incompetence, but if it’s any consolation the work you and your colleagues do is great, and I am confident it will soon be recognized by someone who knows how to, say, own and operate a media website.

Hey man thanks for giving us a platform, however brief, to bid farewell to this site.

Jesus. Don’t we screen people before allowing them to comment here? How can such ludicrously bad takes get through?!?!

Yeah that’d be fine too. I think TPM has tiers, one with passive ads, one totally ad-free.

No Almond Joy? Jesus, things really ARE bleak.

I feel like I’m sort of numbed to commenting related traumas, as I started out at the AV Club before Univision picked it up, and had to endure the savage Kinja-related execution of our commenting community there.

I look forward to continuing to tell you how shitty your music takes are, in this or any other forum, wherever we all wash up. Happy trails amigo.

Perfect. Amazing.

God, you and your fucking Steely Dan takes... christ alive...

Even though it’s a popular sports thing to say, I have never been the kind of person to say “I could do a better job of running this enterprise than the current owners.”

Kickstarter is trouble right now, their management are also being chumps. Then again, their employees haven’t called for a boycott yet, so what the hell let’s do it.

I said this elsewhere here and on Twitter, but: I ponied up like $5 a month for Talking Points Memo, in acknowledgment of the good work they do. I would ABSOLUTELY pay $5-10 a month for a truly ad-free site containing my favorite buddies from Deadspin, io9, Jalopnik, the Root, etc.

God forbid! *faints dead away*

Mazal tov!
