It’s annoying primarily because, at least for us, being out late and drinking late has almost entirely lost its appeal. The kids get up at the same time in the morning (usually by 6 AM) regardless of when we go to bed, and it’s a chore to try to keep ourselves awake past 10 when we’re already tired from either a day…

Yeah. I eventually came to really understand that the kids get up at the same time no matter what time I, or they, go to bed. So I may as well lean into that and just get some sleep.

I have a slight pref for St. Patty’s because I can duck out of work, go drink for a while between, like, 10 AM and 2 PM, then work off the buzz with a pleasant early-spring walk and be home on time to pick up the kids.
