What you describe as bad luck, I suspect are poor driving skills. Example: If I have a habit of hard braking late it’s not considered my fault when I get rear-ended. But it is preventable by me braking softly and maintaining a safe gap between me and the vehicle in front of me.

If time allows in my schedule, I have sometimes washed and cleaned a rental car in advance of a vacation (if I depart from my home). Assuming the agency did a half-ass clean-up, I don’t want to be on a road-trip for several hours with the funky smells, dust, and smudges of previous renters.

In a very short time period, two cars get totaled that you are driving and both are not your fault. I am having a hard time with this. I feel like there might be some incriminating information that’s been left out.
