That’s the thing: she doesn’t know she’s lying. She’s created a story in her own head that is utterly divorced from objective reality, but because she created it, she’s decided it must be true. To believe otherwise would be to contradict her own certainty about her uniqueness, her achievements, and her deserved

Ditto for mine. There’s a blind spot for these developers where they think that everyone has the same access to bandwidth that they do, and sooner or later that’s going to bite someone. Their market is going to shrink because their grand ideas run into the brick wall of crap infrastructure, and none of the providers

But that would mean two production lines, which involves capital expenditures, which means a reduction in stock growth, which means less shareholder value than projected, which means... BAD! VERY BAD!

Because they’re all scared to be the first to try and pivot the pickup crowd towards EVs.  They look at the market and say, “what if we switch to electric pickups and our customers say no, then just go buy from the other two guys?”  It’s an existential fear that they can’t bypass.

I agree with that completely. That’s just stupidly overpriced. I also notice that she’s selling tuning forks (4 octaves above middle C) and cut quartz crystals for $75 to “reset” and “create pure tones that help to restore a sense of balance”. So maybe she’s just jumped the shark into full-on GOOPiness at this point.

It’s just an attempt to disguise the fact that when Lucas wrote Han’s line about “less than 12 parsecs”, he didn’t know what a parsec was and just thought it sounded cool.  He is spouting some made-up Star Wars nonsense that treats “parsec” as a measure of time, rather than distance.

Half of me agrees: a hand-made, artisan durable good like the aforementioned tea scoop makes some sense, since it’ll last forever and buying it supports a (theoretically) independent craftsman. $52 might be a little steep, but quality costs money.

STICK TO NOT SPORTS

And Kareem is a HELL of an author, too, both fiction and non-fiction.

I know their IMSA car is a Dallara chassis, but at least somebody over at Cadillac seems to have some idea of how to win endurance races.  Maybe this will be an offshoot of that.

We all just want Dog back.

If there’s ever been a place that I wanted to eat, “Snoop Dogg’s Uncle’s Rib Place” is now at the top of the list.

The tiny whisk is definitely useful.  I find myself whisking sauces directly in a large glass measuring cup quite often.

Kate Beaton always has the answer.

I drive by the one in Plano TX multiple times a week. It’s right across from the new Toyota headquarters building.  Never seen anyone use it, but they seem to rotate the cars regularly.

Somebody at the Times or the Post needs to offer the library a free subscription.  No objections then, right?

I’m genuinely loving The Outer Worlds. Even on my admittedly behind-the-times system it runs well, the dialog is good (especially Parvati, everyone’s favorite), and the plot and characters are well done. My only quibble is that everything seems so... abrupt. “I’ve known you for 5 minutes, so here’s my entire life

They can legally refuse to serve him at all. Being a donut mule isn’t a protected class; they’re not discriminating, just exercising their right to refuse service.

“The jury would have to be full of drooling idiots to imagine”
