It’s hard to say, but it seems to me that this behavior does not follow that of a savvy serial killer.

While there always has to be a first, he did seem to know a lot of forensic countermeasures. My guess is this is not his first murder, regardless of the circumstances.

Well, this guy literally murdered his wife for that exact reason.

Not that I’m ruling out the sexual assault angle, but this dude has a documented history of egomania (particularly where this project is concerned), I daresay she could have said something that offended him during an interview and flew off into a rage.

Unfortunately, your first scenario is all too true. It happened to someone I know, may she rest in peace. Her killer was convicted and sentenced to prison, a small consolation for her life.

Jesus. The theory that he sexually assaulted her, she resisted, and he murdered her and then has been desperately trying to cover his tracks ever since seems almost certain at this point. That, or he’s a deranged serial killer who’s really bad at covering his tracks.
