There should be, which is why many cities keep trying to fight this. Denver, a sanctuary city, just voted to overhaul their minimum sentencing in many minor offenses and petty crimes because they’re tired of ICE lurking around courthouses. ICE’s system apparently flags anyone charged with a crime that carries a

Even by doing this ONCE, Trump’s administration is giving a gift to every trafficker and exploiter of modern slave labor in the world. They rely on their victim’s fear of coming to authorities. So on top of literally punishing trafficking victims for being victimized, Trump is empowering traffickers by undermining the

You want her go to jail for giving a happy ending or for being illegal?

That policy would ring a lot less hollow if people weren’t being arrested at schools and churches and hospitals.

It’s a fool’s hope, but I wish the next President abolishes ICE altogether. Just because the President unleashes your shackles doesn’t mean you lose basic decency.

So many of my friends who are dads really enjoy playing makeover with their kids. They get to sit and relax while their little ones paint their nails and brush their hair, and none of them bat an eye over it either. It’s sweet.

ICE views scaring victims of crimes who happen to be undocumented from testifying against perpetrators as a feature, not a bug, of the new system. The idea that these folks have anything resembling “rights” has always been anathema to a certain segment of law enforcement, and now they get to run roughshod over the

Stop calling them ICE. Call them what they are.

Same deal with mandatory minimums. Because the hell with nuance and practical decisions that take into account individual context and social utility. Let’s just apply blanket rules that clog up the system. Sure, it might actually make the problem it’s meant to solve worse, but at least you can tell people you’re tough

Correction of your last sentence: Potentially working illegally AGAINST HER WILL as a masseuse, or power-drunk ICE agents. You get arrested as a victim of human trafficking for a few complicated reasons but I seriously doubt she wanted to be there.

You sick, evil FUCKS. FUCK YOU.

Aren’t there rule or laws of good faith when it comes to the courthouses? Who would ever go to court to testify, participate, be heard, work, serve in a jury if they run the risk of arrest for any and all indescretions at all time?

This is what happens when you make quotas and numbers the core of your being. ICE and general Policing are the same: “I get mine at your expense. America!”

Don’t worry, they’ll get the serious criminals who actually cause harm eventually. /s

I feel like these people have been trained to view their work like some super hyped up action movie or video game. There seems to be such a disconnect from normal empathy and reasoning. It’s heartbreaking (not for them, for the people they view as part of a scorecard).

Fucking despicable. Jesus Christ. SPEAKING OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD ALSO BE DISGUSTED.

Fuck ICE. More interested in breaking up families and causing panic in minority communities than any meaningful policing. I hope they all rot in hell.

It’s unsettling actually. I suppose I can see it through the historical framework, i.e. the best a woman did was based on who she married - hence either being born a princess or somehow marrying a prince was the absolute highest she could rise. But the stubborn persistence of the princess narrative is kinda baffling

I'm starting to think more about what "friend" actually means. I definitely don't have hundreds of friends, even if that's what Facebook tells me. So why not delete people if I wouldn't actually care to spend time with them?

You know, I have no idea if this is supposed to be a joke or not, but right now, considering the number of men just all over Gawkerverse who have no problem declaring that women should legally be forced breeders, not human beings, and that rape should not exist as a crime since women should have no say in what
