Just on my personal observations.

As an American citizen (born and raised) I must admit that I'm not proud of the general public in our country. We have developed a society based on the notion that we deserve everything because we're Americans. The line between 'want' and 'need' has disappeared from our sight and 'earn' is all but forgotten.
