Umm, somebody could invest in her brains without paying some university tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars for a piece of paper. You don't have to act all superior just because you have three degrees- learning doesn't happen just in some Ivy-covered auditorium...

People with tanned or naturally darker skin are the only ones who can pull off champagne/beige. On pale people it just washes them completely out.

One of my second cousins got all pissy because I didn't "cover my plate" at her overpriced wedding (for a marriage that only wound up lasting a couple of years). I was a broke Army wife at the time and got her some kitchen utensils off her registry. Apparently those were supposed to be shower gifts and for the

Honestly, I'd be so thrilled that they were actually making the legal commitment to marry rather than just living together that I'd be glad to help pitch in for the reception. I don't buy the "we're too broke" excuse for not getting married.

I don't see how Family Cloth is any grosser than cloth diapers, which are very fashionable in my social circle. Personally I hate doing laundry so I use disposable diapers and toilet paper, but that's due to the convenience factor more than anything else.

I'm a married, church-attending, college educated, home-owning soccer mom who could afford a newspaper subscription. I've had a couple of them in the past (one was from some expiring frequent flyer miles and the other was a special promo rate). But I've always canceled because while I had the money, I didn't think

A woman who looks like Lena Dunham and who didn't have Lena Dunham's connections would NEVER get to star in her own TV show. I don't object to Ms. Dunham's looks but I do object to the blatant nepotism of "Girls".

BC has always had a reputation for attracting preppies. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing depends on one's feelings towards preppies. One person's "creative" is another person's "weirdo" IYKWIM.

No to which part? Or all of it?

Revenge on the haters who crucified her when she was heavier. Honestly I think a LOT of her problem was not knowing how to pick outfits that flatter a curvier body.

Pumpkin pound cake with butterfinger icing? Ick. Ick. Ick. I love pumpkin and I love butterfingers but NOT together.

It isn't "contraception" if it works post-fertilization. Barrier methods and hormonal methods that suppress ovulation are contraceptives because they prevent conception. This might be a form of "birth control" but it doesn't do a thing to stop conception so it isn't a contraceptive.

Jessica Simpson and Kim Kardashian are both short (5' 2"ish) while Kate Middleton is 5'10. Short women tend to look bigger during pregnancy because there isn't any where for the baby to go but out.

I was born in '77 but have a name that is way more popular today, while my girls (ages 10 and 4) have names that were more popular in the '70's. People are CONSTANTLY calling me by one of their names and them by my name. Think Sophia mom to Stacy and Shannon (those aren't our names obviously but you get the idea).

Morel like the mushroom?

Are you from the Southwest? Sofia looks Hispanic to me. Most of the white girls I know with the name use the Greek spelling with the "ph".

I wonder if the "most popular names" are becoming more popular than they used to be, making up a larger proportion of the kids in any given year.

Just because the Greek system at ONE college was racist, does not mean that is the norm. In fact, I'd say judging from the pictures in my sorority's magazine, it is very much the exception to have an all-white chapter. I had black sisters, Latina sisters, Asian sisters, and multiracial sisters and this was close to 20

Yes, the alumnae groups I've been part of since graduation had women from many different collegiate chapters. If I were to move to Alabama, I could participate in an alumnae group there (though if they're full of Hilly Holbrook types, I probably wouldn't want to).

My chapter absolutely looked at GPA (we had a minimum of 3.0), honors & awards, and extracurricular activities as a big part of membership criteria. We wanted to find women who were going to be leaders on campus and after graduation. Not just girls who would look cute in our matching t-shirts. We wanted women who were
