Whenever I try to do push ups, one of my cats (the bat-shit insane one in my profile pic) ruins my focus with her 1. needing to get in the way and 2. her cuteness. I try to justify it by saying that she thinks I’m in danger and is trying to save me.

The lack of audience reaction is sucking the life out of the pre-recorded presentation.

That’s a great way to put it. I just prefer the subtle elegance of the Huracan.
The Huracan is one of rare instances where I think the model below the top car (Aventador) of a manufacturer is better looking. The Porsche 911 is another example (GTS vs. the Turbo).
Oh god, he was only 47? I remember noticing his artwork in D&D 4E and thinking he was one of the few who really understood and successfully modernized classic D&D artwork. RIP, you will always be remembered.
My friend had a Turbo and I thought it was a nice differentiator to the stock Beetle... until I heard it deploy on the highway: GRRRRRAAAAAAK! It sounded so cheap. Every time it deployed and retracted with the loud grating noise, it only reminded me that VW was willing to sacrifice quality for market share.
LOL I never realized that part of the One-77. I think given the exclusivity and the statement care it was at least they could have compromised functionality over style and made it a bit more proportional to the design.
hmhm yeah... BOIOIOINNNG! hmhm
At this point with 3D printing and manufacturers offering “classic restorations” a new car will last forever. But the question comes down to the great thought-experiment Ship of Theseus. Is it still the same car if most or all of the car was replaced?
Thank you for this post. You nailed it and I desperately hope many more people will get to read it.
I’ve been fortunate to drive a lot of fun cars in my youth. Honda CRX DX, Nissan 300ZX, MR2 Turbo, and BMW E36 M3 but nothing comes close to the exhilaration of the turbo kicking in from the MR2 Turbo in a straight line from 2nd to 3rd gear. The noise of the turbo spooling and then bam! The M3 and 300ZX were better…
I went to the SPCA to get my 2nd cat (the 1st one was picked by my friend). I was nervous on how to pick one. The very first room I went into, the little black cat came up to me mewing and wanting to brush up against me. I said to myself, "I'll check out the rest but she is the benchmark." I probably looked at 20…
When it looked like he was going to win, a German in a Ferrari, I just knew he would pay tribute to Schumacher and what an emotional experience it must be to him made more tragic because Schumacher probably will never know.
Speaking of stuffs, my coworkers asked me to come to happy hour and I had to go pick up some weed (back when it was still hush-hush). So I blurted out, "Uh no I have to go pick up... some... stuff." The whole group busted out in laughter.
I grew up with the comic book collecting hobby (Miller's Dark Knight, Eastman/Laird TMNT) but never have I felt so frustrated by a company like Nintendo who seem to unintentionally create demand. I just wish they would outright explain wtf they are trying to accomplish with Amiibos.
This is my favorite, so far ahead of any others that it's the first one I think of no question. The split second decision, a moving chicane, rivalry, the greatest track, it has it all.
This is all waaay too Japanese for me to root for any side.
Somewhat related but I was wondering recently if there are former architects that work in the gaming industry. Seems like it would be a great career change for those who are disillusioned by the constraints of reality (building codes, being told what and how to design, etc.).
I remember the MR2 being compared to the 348 as they were available at the same time. I had a MR2 Turbo and it was one of the most fun cars I owned especially when the turbo kicked in in 2nd and 3rd gears and you could hear the whistle inches behind you. And the exhaust note is so distinctive. It could definitely be a…
