Avatar was a show marketed towards children on Nickelodeon, and it's a fantastic, well written show. Not to mention something like the Harry Potter books, which, while perhaps not written with the specific intent of being for children, were certainly published and marketed as such.

It doesn't appeal to me, but nerds have been liking stuff that's intended for kids (or perceived as such) since forever, so it seems a little hypocritical to hate on these guys just because they're fans of a brightly colored pony cartoon.

It's a good, well-designed cartoon show, much the same as Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls(who Lauren Faust also worked on), Young Justice, Batman: TAS, Adventure Time, etc.

I agree, men should like overly violent gore filled manly stuff. I'm certain no manly man ever watches any sort of animation or wears pink because that would be unmanly.
