Some LAT executives deliberately stifled the development of their website because they did not want it competing with the print product. Also (semi-full disclosure) I approached friends and contacts to volunteer to help beta test their web site and to propose suggestions. I was turned down flat. It’s sad and

Unfortunately, it is the end of an era for print media, especially newspapers and magazines. The Los Angeles Times simply is not relevant to the lives of people in Southern California. And fewer people, care about the LA Times as a brand (what a stupid idea).

I pick a side, and it’s easy to do so. Trump is an infantile petulant little man-child for demanding an apology. Shit, he could just walk it off by saying, “I’m the president. This is what I do.” And the reality is that the State Department and other agencies would have worked quietly to get this thing resolved

The original “Blade Runner” was a beautiful, difficult film that could not easily be pigeonholed. The sequel is equally beautiful and difficult to pin down, which is ultimately a good thing. It deserves to be seen on the big screen because the visuals are often simply gorgeous (and see it in a theater with a good

I loved “Mad Max, Fury Road.” Absolutely loved it. And yet, I still think that “Road Warrior” is the superior film.

I didn’t really need a sequel to “Blade Runner,” no more than I really need a sequel to “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.” However, I was glad to see the film. It was absolutely beautiful. It was also thoughtful, even though I am still not sure whether I really liked how the story unfolded. Some of the plot advanced

Gee, this all sounds kinda mild compared to what sometimes happened in the historical Old West.

I am amused that supposedly hard-headed, business oriented Republicans apparently do not understand how insurance works. Equally puzzling, while the GOP is typically right in step with the interests of some industry or corporate lobbying group, in the case of the importance of the individual mandate, they plainly

I’m surprised to read some fans insist that the first two films were some kind of coherent master statement and that Snyder (who understandably left the production to deal with personal issues) would have delivered a masterpiece with this film. These are some of the people who yearn for a director’s cut that restores

“Justice League” was probably not helped by debuting soon after the more lavishly praised “Thor Ragnarok.” And it’s future prospects will probably be hurt by the opening of Pixar’s “Coco.” A lot of fans seemed to be almost warily anticipating JL, not eagerly waiting to see it, and the word-of-mouth was not glowingly

RE: True superman fans, like yourself, didn’t want to see and follow Clark’s journey.

Thanks! I love stars from jackanapes like you! Makes me all ... tingly.

I thought I was going to hate this film from the top when they kept referring to Superman as the lost hope of Earth, even though they had done absolutely nothing to clearly establish Superman as a beloved hero in either “Man of Steel” or “Batman v Superman.” Fortunately, the movie partly recovered from this, and were

Even though I think that “Thor: Ragnarok” is a far better movie than the “Justice League,” the kids in the audience loved the Justice League movie more than did the kids in the earlier film. Part of it seemed to be just the fun of seeing the DC heroes together. They also knew who more of the main characters were.

Better a cartoon than the Zyder crap that they have been feeding us.

Darkseid is as problematic as Marvel’s Thanos: a character that excites comic fans but who is largely irrelevant to moviegoers. The DC villain that most people know is Luther, and the current DC movie version of this character is lame beyond belief.

I don’t have a “price range” in my pocket, I have money. $150 is real money. I don’t see a configuration of smartphone features that is giving me more value for the additional money.

It’s too late to stop now. It’s not like they are going to shut the series down and start over again. Having painted themselves into a corner, they now have to find a way to walk on the walls and the ceilings.

Thanks much for the good review. I will be looking for a replacement phone soon and will consider this one.

RE: Is a $500 phone really that much cheaper than a $650 phone?
