I’m alternately dreading and anticipating being able to sit down and watch this episode after last week’s horrible show. I’ve avoided spoilers and this review.

I’m not seeing the controversy. Parallel Jesus is a Jesus Christ, not generic “Son of God” common to many religions. Not “some may interpret that as Jesus.” I took it as a parallel, alternate reality “He is the Christ, yes the Great Jesus Christ/Prove to me that you’re no fool, walk across my swimming pool.”

RE: I think the point was more that a similar religion popped up on this parallel earth as on real earth. Roddenberry was an avowed atheist.

When I say that “The Orville” is SF for dummies, I mean that the episodes often come across like warmed over, simplified Star Trek. This bothers some viewers, and pleases others. And if the jokes and comedy is frosting for the cake, it is often a sour batch that threatens to ruin the entire thing.

RE: But even in the U.S. military, basic professionalism and competence is expected of all officers, and there is disciplinary action for those who don’t measure up.

Part of the problem is that the idea of a resentful Superman is unappealing. And this was part of the problem. We never really saw Superman rise, become fully in control of his powers, and make a decision as to what kind of hero he would be, and the full impact of that decision on the world. At lot of this had been

The other problem is that there really was not a rational reason for Superman and Batman to START fighting.

“Vampire in Brooklyn” was a pretty good movie, but also totally forgettable.

Any kind of Black Widow movie, comedy or drama, works for me. Since Marvel seems to be dragging its feet with having more female characters as leads of their films, why not give a director who expresses interest in a character (and who has a clear idea about what he wants to do) a shot?

RE: But what drives you up the wall about what was changed?

I actually liked this episode. I resigned myself to the idea that “The Orville” is Star Trek for Dummies, but this episode was actually enjoyable. Seth McFarlane tries to do sci fi from a comedic premise and here makes it work despite some obvious weaknesses. I don’t much care that the story has been done before on

Orville is a comedy or comedy drama. Characters on comedy shows are stupid. The action always proceeds from someone doing something dumbth.

Exactly! Batman v Superman was made by people who had been deep into the comics and who wanted to shake things up with the characters. But they failed to look at things from a moviegoers point of view. So, this Superman was not much developed from the enigmatic character introduced in “Man of Steel” and the Batman ...

Being a prequel just adds to Discovery’s problems. I don’t care that much about canon, but so far, what the show has added, or filled in about Klingons and Vulcans is just not very interesting or compelling. They over complicate what we previously knew about Spock’s family by giving him a previously unknown

Loved this review. Characters watching screens, monitors, computers, etc., often pointlessly slows even good movies. I’m so glad that I took the hint from all the bad reviews and gave Geostorm a pass.

I find the taste of some foods, brussel sprouts, okra, eggplant, for example, to be disgusting. Simply cannot eat it in most of the ways they are cooked.

But expectation can produce disgust as well. Your story reminds me of the time that I was really looking forward to some orange juice. Really craving it. But I grabbed and drank from a similar sized carton of milk. Not spoiled milk. Just regular milk. I spit it out because my mind and taste buds had been primed for

They are thugs.

Everyone, including Apple, wants to make smartphones that are sexy, trend setting, game changing, beyond state of the art, with eye-popping screen displays and a camera that is the best ever (until the next generation smartphone is released). I want a smartphone that just works, a truck instead of a luxury car, a

Actually, when I think of Shakespeare meets Game of Thrones, “Macbeth” immediately comes to mind. The language of the play itself suggests a world unraveling because of the battles between various clans, and it is also a world which includes hints of magic and the supernatural.
