What’s this little round bit cut into the tailgate for? A leftover from the spare tire mounting point on the full rear door? It seems too low for that though.

I mean the AE86 was just one variant of the E80 generation of Corolla and it was dedicated to the “sporty” Corolla versions. I’m sure there were way more AE82 (FF chassis) Corollas brought here.

The North American cars had AE85, AE86, or AE88 in the VIN, but they all have AE86 chassis codes.

Yeah. It bothered me that they didn’t mention the fact that Ford ran at Le Mans in ‘64 and sucked at it before going to Shelby for help. They just skip right to 1965.
