It's most likely some encodes by Coalgirls, from 30gb to 50gb. I also have many big images, Multi-row panoramas. Those are around 2gb for each image.

Reformat, it's easy. Open up your disk management, and right click on the 500gb partition. There isn't such a thing as true 'Mac only', 'windows only', or 'Linux only' hard drives. The thing separating them is the partition type.
