regarding number 1/7: maybe that’s a good reason not to watch modern-day gladiators killing themselves for your entertainment, no?  If you have to ignore the elephant in the room, maybe it’s not the best room to be standing in.

I didn’t hate it. It’s definitely not as good as the anime, but I would have watched a second season if one had been made. I feel like where it failed was in trying too hard to be both like the anime and different at the same time.

One of the reasons I agreed to watch this back in college was that it was billed as specifically not a musical. I just don’t like musicals (Disney or otherwise).

Disney didn’t want a musical either, which is part of the reason why the entire movie had to be scrapped and remade almost from scratch. Sting was apparently very unhappy about the decision (because this was going to be his Lion King or whatever).

The Emperor’s New Groove was originally going to be a musical called Kingdon of the Sun (with songs by Sting). This whole concept got thrown out about halfway through production and they basically restarted the movie from scratch. But some of the unused songs from the original plot still exist and there is a KILLER

I dunno, this seems more like Minesweeper to me?

Cage-free, free-range, and name brands are going to be more expensive than the most generic, store brand option on the shelves.

I’m ready!

Right. Tetsuya Takahashi was quite fascinated with those themes, and he went all-in with the Judaeo-Christianity in the Xenosaga games - which REALLY should get rereleased.

Whenever I see a list like this I always have to bang the drum for Dust: An Elysium Tale. Yes, I know it’s almost ten years old now, but I still think it’s been incredibly underrated. Metroidvania is my favorite genre of games, and I think Dust is on the Mt. Rushmore. It does all the usual Metroidvania things, but

That’s fairly idiotic. One of the many things that make mobile phones ubiquitous is that they are utterly portable. We can use them in the car, at work, while we’re walking, on the toilet, in the store, anywhere. It succeeded because it seamlessly integrated with real life. When you’re in the metaverse, you can’t even

it’s actually kinda amazing how far the delusion of these people goes

I know why no one got it.

maybe I’m being too harsh but oof, that title. if I hadn’t seen this article and just saw the name “Vengeful Guardianin a shop or something, I would just automatically think it’s some low-effort chinese mobile game.

The aesthetic is reminding me a lot of early-mid 90s Contra, and a bit of 16bit Castlevania too. Lots of Konami up in here.

Pro-tip: adding a tiny bit of brandy to the dough (with a splash of vanilla) takes chocolate chip cookies to another level.

Aw, sweet! That means the drought is OFFICIALLY over, now, so we can go back to watering anything and everything instead of learning from this experience and drafting/instituting lasting legislation to combat the persistent drought reality in the US Southwest!”

But Rian, we want to see more of your relationship with Star Wars!
