You really need to look at TOS in context of the time it was produced. The only other “sci fi” close to it was Lost In Space, and that was abysmal.
Ultimately, I don’t see how there could be any spoilers for Lost in hindsight. Once it became apparent the writers had no intention of tying everything together into a coherent universe, everything became pretty much meaningless. I still think the finale was the result of the writers thinking they couldn’t use *any*…
