People hump manuals like they’re the greatest thing since sliced bread because they think knowing how to use a clutch pedal makes them part of an exclusive club, or something.

“No manual, no care.” That’s a refrain among so many car enthusiasts. But there are times when that is just a…
I’m not kidding. In 2015, you can indeed have a brand new MGB created using the original tooling, powered by a Mazda…
GM’s problem right now is that they screwed up on the ignition switch recall. While they sat on their hands, more than 100 people died. They committed a massive coverup and many people within the corporation were in on the conspiracy.
GM is actually around third best of the major automakers for the rate of recalls over the last 30 years, only Mercedes and Mazda do better: http://blog.caranddriver.com/recall-throwdo…
Safety schmafety! I happily cruise around in a car with safety tech that’s at best 33 years old (the chassis design was actually 19 years old when it came out of the factory, making that part 52) and the risk is part of the fun! It does scare my husband half to death though.
You’re wrong.
So why is it that everyone bashes the hell out of GM and never harps on all of the other companies that hide their flaws. *cough* Honda
Is it wrong that I’m kinda leaning towards the “beauty” answer??
I heard Porsche charges extra to remove brakes.
but they are beautiful...
And the rest of the dashboard was probably stainless steel knobs and googaws, all sharp, shiny and ready to impale anyone flung forward in an accident.
In the 40s and 50s did not some cars have a wonderful looking pointed metal cone (dagmars I think they were called) in the center of the steering wheel that would just happen to stab you in your chest and cause all kinds of damage to your ribs, lungs and heart if you were in a head-on collision? I seem to remember…
That’s an amazingly uneducated insinuation. The true free market is where an entity makes a great product or fulfills a service to the point where they are rewarded. Make a product honorable enough and the product shall be popularized. Would people buy a vehicle without brakes? No, they would not. A free market…
Lawless motors? I like it, I’m heading down to register Shady Auto Repairs, home of the 50/50 warranty, and I just found this haiku
This pleases Slaanesh.
My 1959 land yacht's bench seat is so soft - you sink in to it and it's like you've got a bolstered seat... you actually stay in place reasonably well!
I've never been a fan of column gearshifts, mostly because it represented so much of what was wrong with the malaise-era cars that I grew up with. Even worse were the non-6 place cars that we had that still had a bench and column shift. That's about as useless as inappropriate sex organs on farm animals.
You don't have to be too old to remember having a bench seat in the front of an American car. It's kind of a staple…
