Furthermore, if a child needs correction (and that doesn’t seem to be the case for the young man in the article) physical punishment doesn’t work.  This isn’t discipline- this is what out of control adults do when they’ve failed to build positive behaviors with a child.

Exactly.  I’m a 12th year teacher, and there’s no getting around the fact that we are exceptionally regular people.  We get mad.  We go crazy.  Kids are awesome, and great, and SO FRUSTRATING all at the same time.  Let’s keep schools de-militarized.

I think this is probably the answer.  This is all about the exercise of “celebrity privilege” (or whatever it should be called).  Don’t put people on a pedestal where they’re too big to fail, because most people will end up abusing that position.
