I went back and read his comments. They are certainly homophobic and worth calling out but also more thoughtful than anything John Rocker ever said. Exactly right. THE WHOLE POINT of our government was to invest the legislatures with the most power. And yet we expect our presidents, governors and even mayors to rule by fiat. Thus, we get candidates who like the idea of ruling by fiat.

And this is why I hate the “both parties are evil/feckless/corrupt” line. It’s lazy intellectual thinking but readily easy to believe for people who are more eager to disengage from politics than to participate in it.
